Quite the Sunday Funday

So yesterday began normally with an early wakeup call from the sun. Even the kitties were in good, snuggly spirits.   Kate and I went outside to clean up the porch before enjoying some mid-afternoon bevvies, and realized that the chairs were in pretty awful condition.
Being the handy girls that we are, we decided we would spend the day refinishing the 2 patio chairs, the side table, and the large round table. Luckily, the hardware store is right next to the liquor store...
On our way back from the Dollar Store, we drove by Life St in Brighton, and found this gem
What a perfect, uplifting way to start the day!
While we were out, Keegan and Jerry decided to fix the grill. Surprisingly enough, if you leave a grill out through snow storms, floods, and harsh Boston conditions, it will still turn on, but it will blow-up in your face. Clearly the next stop was Shaw's to grab some steaks! The Twisted Tea tallboys are just a brief replacement for the lack of Four Lokos at any local liquor store.
Keegan looked next door, and hanging from hangers on their porch rafters were dried ANIMAL INTESTINES. Literally, there was a rectum hanging from a string on a hanger- absolutely disgusting. The picture isn't that great, but I'm posting it anyway because it is so revolting.

After that disgusting moment, on to the best part of the day- refinishing chairs and tables! I decided to do both chairs and the large table in a solid silver/grey that has a hammered texture, and then do the small table hot pink (obviously).
Unfortunately, when us girls embark on a project that involves sanding and painting, we are bound to underestimate supplies and manpower. Luckily Jerry was there to rescue us from the impending doom that involved Dollar Store sandpaper and only 1.5 cans of spray paint. We loaded up into Jerry's baller jeep, and took a detour to Home Depot (where dreams are made).

It was hard enough not to play around on everything, but when we had the chance to possibly break a bunch of chairs, we had to grasp the opportunity. Then when we were leaving the parking lot, we saw a sex scene on this gorgeous car. Stay classy, Watertown.

When we got back, Jerry decided to take over most of the whole project, which was great so that me, Kate, and Keegan could enjoy some drinks and play with Roxy and the kitties! We also took a moment to salute the Eagles for being Hockey East Champs!!

Finally, we made some headway on the chairs, but not until Keegan decided it would be fun to climb the tree in our backyard. Obviously, we helped hoist her up, knowing we would also be pulling her down.

We found a pine tree that I got at a conference a few months back, and Keegan decided to name her Anne and to plant her in the backyard. Because sometimes things can get rowdy, Keegan decided to mark the spot with some leftover paint.

THEN, we finally finished the furniture! It's going to be quite the spring/summer if this is how we spent one nice day. Not to mention I spent the rest of the night eating leftover steak and drinkng Mike's Harder Lemonades while watching Twilight: New Moon. Thanks for coming, Sunday Funday.
